Find The Best Baby Sun Hat – 3 Golden Rules
by rosalind on Sep.08, 2010
Parents know the importance of protecting their baby against the dangerous sun rays in spring and summer. But while some toddlers love their baby sun hat, some babies don’t want to get near them. Look away for a second and they will already have taken off their sun protection.
That’s why you should mind a few important rules when buying a sun protection hat for your baby. If you can find a hat that both you and your baby like, you can be sure your little one will not take off the hat and will always be protected against the sun.
Now, here are my 3 golden rules when it comes to buying a baby sun hat:
Rule 1: The Neck Is As Important As The Face
Much too often parents care for the face of their baby but neglect the neck. Those parents often buy hats with a brim that only protects the face of their toddler. But if you don’t choose a hat that protects your babies neck as well, she will get a dangerous sun burn in no time.
Rule 2: How To Make Your Baby Love Her Hat
I highly recommend to show your baby several hats that you already approve of and let her choose the one that she likes the most. This time she will have a sense of belonging. To see if her decision is final, offer her some hats again and see if she changes her mind.
Your toddler might show a strong will against most offered hats. A strong will is a good sign.
Rule 3: UVA And UVB Protection
Some baby sun hats look fancy and have a wide brim, but they lack UVA and UVB protection. These rays go right through the material and can even cause a sun burn when your baby is “protected” by a cap or under an umbrella.
Choose a baby sun hat with UVA and UVB protection and your toddler will be perfectly protected.
